Remote Site PE router interfaces going to half duplex

We had a Router interface dropping to Half Duplex and the performance went bad with a 12% packet loss.
How would I configure a custom poller to monitor a change in Duplex Settings on an interface and Alert with
a Critical.Any other suggestions on how to monitor this would be helpful. Thanks - John

Re: Remote Site PE router interfaces going to half duplex

Hello John,

one or both interfaces will increase their error counters. So from MIB-2 you can monitor IfErrors/IfDiscards. Some vendors like Cisco have more counters like runts, FCS, CRC and alignment, which you can check with custom poller. If your management environment uses a syslog tool like ArcSight, you might be able to integrate duplex-mismatch log messages into NNMi.

HTH and kind regards
