Warning in NNMi Log - The prescribed batch size of X is too small.

Hello,

I'm repeatedly receiving the following warning in the nnm log (nnm.log):

WARNING [com.hp.ov.nms.trapd.common.util.log.filesystem.BaseLogFilesystemManager] The prescribed batch size of 1,024 is to small.  The queue was not fully emptied on the first pass.

I have a couple of questions:

1) Which queue does this pertain to?

2) Should I be concerned about this and if so...

3) How do I configure a larger batch size and assess the implications of doing so?

Any help would be appreciated.

(Note: NNMi 9.20 on RHEL 5.5, and we are using trap forwarding to forward to a local OML Agent)

Thanks

Hello Hunterjrj,

According he warning,

WARNING [com.hp.ov.nms.trapd.common.util.log.filesystem.Ba

seLogFilesystemManager] The prescribed batch size of 1,024 is to small.  The queue was not fully emptied on the first pass.

Is related to a queue full, the trap queue on this time, basically you need to increase the write interval, “com.hp.ov.nms.trapd.trap-logging.batchSize=” i=and you have 1,024, so  you can set the writeInterval higher to have fewer to write per intervall. Set “com.hp.ov.nms.trapd.trap-logging.writeInterval = 2000” to “com.hp.ov.nms.trapd.trap-logging.writeInterval = 1000”, and the issue has gone.
