connectivity from switch to host

Hi All

We have one Enclosure where multiple ESXI servers are configured.

Each Enclosure has 2 Interconnect Modules with 4 network ports which are connected to outside switch through Fibre connection.

We need to figure Interface connectivity from switch to ESXi servers.

I discovered ESXi servers, switches, enclosure but still not seeing connectivity from switch to ESXi server.

Is there any additional configuration I need to do, like discovering Interconnect modules or something else.

Re: connectivity from switch to host

Hi,

You should see the connectivity inside of the vritual switch, as far the web-agent has been properly configured and discovery has sucseed. The looking would be as in docs:

https://docs.microfocus.com/itom/Network_Node_Manager_i:2018.11/Use/nmConsoleHelp/nmConIntro0600Diagrams

There is other scenario - the external link outgoing from the physical mashine where ESX installed - are you asking about that? Well, that connectivity cannot be discovered so far the server has no subagent which reports interface properties and has some xDP MIB (which is rather not happening for servers). Some limited view can be obtained by "Show end nodes" view.

Re: connectivity from switch to host

Hi

When I look at loom diagram I am able to see connectivity from vSwitch to VMs hosted in ESXi server. On one end I am able to see NICs on ESXi server but I am not able to see connectivity from NICs to external world.

Layer2 connectivity did not show anything useful, but layer 3 connectivity shows other end is the network switch.

By the way I could not find "Show end nodes view"

Re: connectivity from switch to host

This is an area for improvement in both sides - VM develops enriching the scope information provided via web agent and the NNMi aligns to it. In that scenario as I got it, there is no way to build reliable L2 connection between nodes behind of two VM farms of same physical entity where two virtual switches sharing same net. That's even more deep entity incaplulation should be mirrorod, then exists in the modern big chassis...
