Re: snmp community string limitations for snmp v2 in nnm 9.1?

Hello,

I am not aware of any limitations on the type of characters. The length is limited by the DB column size which is 255. Community strings are case sensitive. There are special requirements for SNMP proxy but I am not sure if you are using that one.

Re: snmp community string limitations for snmp v2 in nnm 9.1?

Hello

I am not aware of any limitations other than the number of characters allowed: 255

The at sign (@) has a special meaning for Cisco Switches (it is used to specify a specific VLAN) so that could be considered a limitation, as on Cisco device, it will have unexpected behaviours.

Thanks

Re: snmp community string limitations for snmp v2 in nnm 9.1?

Hi,

Further to my response, the following is documented in the Online Help of NNMi

Notice that "@" is permitted, but take in account what I have mentioned about Cisco Devices. If you require a community string for a Cisco device that actually contains the @ sign, let us know and we could test it out.

Read Community String

Type a maximum of 255 characters. Alpha-numeric, spaces, and special characters (~ ! @ # $ % ^ & * ( ) _+ -) are permitted.
