uCMDB integration not creating CIs correctly

Jump to solution

Hello Team,

Probably you guys can help me out.

I have NNM that is pushing CIs to uCMDB. I'm using the integration from the NNM side.

This integration is working fine, all the CIs are being created on uCMDB, but some of them are classified as "Node", and not on "Netdevice" class.

All switches and Routers, are correct, but for example UPS or Voip equipment is classified as "node"

How can i change this?

Thanks in advance

Jaime Abreu

Hi Jaime,

The short answer is - that cannot be changed from NNMi.

Current mapping for topology integration relates like below:

Device category NodeRole Attribute Value
Hub hub
LoadBalancer load_balancer
Printer printer
Router router
Server server
Switch lan_switch
Switch_Router router, lan_switch
Voice Gateway voice_gateway
Workstation desktop
Firewall firewall
Computer computer
Network_Appliance network_appliance
Wireless_Access_Point wireless_access_point

Full list of CI mapping can be found in the docs:

https://docs.microfocus.com/itom/Network_Node_Manager_i:2020.08/OBMTopoIntegration

This is the direct relation between device category attribute in NNMi and what CIs are mapped in ucmdb.

Edit:

Seems that my full message did not get posted.

What i wanted to mention is that there are rules within ucmdb (identification, normalization, reconciliation) that could probably be customized to suite your need.

Further control from NNMi side is not available, unfortunately.

As the devices from UPS/VoIP categories, usually do not provide much information from SNMP discovery, they are just mapped into the more "general" Node CI.

I hope that this will help to move your inquiry in right direction.

Kind regards,
