Is it possible for NNMi 9 to discover and manage a VMware vswitch and network connections?

Re: vmware vswitch

Hi Wes,

The answer for the standard internal vswitch is no. For the distributed vswitch (ie Cisco nexus) the answer is yes. Regards,

I should say for the standard internal vswitch is there any way to manage this and map your connections out of these hosts?

Re: vmware vswitch

Hi Wes,

No, NNMi will map your virtual hosts (at a L2-map) to a subnetconnections container. This container is connected to the switch NNMi gathered information from Layer 3 of to detect the connection of your virtual host.

I'm not in a situation where NNMi manages the ESX host though.

If the L2 topology map situation is not to your liking you can create connections manually by the nnmconnedit.ovpl command (see the Reference Pages manual for usage). Regards
