Novell-Cifs CASA Repair Tool

Novell-Cifs CASA Repair Tool

Overview:
A tool to troubleshoot and fix the system created CASA key: common-proxy-casa and CASA key: novell-cifs

Symptom:
Novell Cifs will not start.  Users can not access their cifs shares.

The /var/log/cifs/cifs.log show one or more of the following errors:
ERROR: ENTRY: DDCLogin() failed Error: -223
ERROR: ENTRY: DDCLogin() failed Error: -222
ERROR: ENTRY: DDCLogin() failed Error: -197

Can not install a product because the OES common proxy user fails to authenticate.

The OES common proxy user’s password was set/changed in iManager and now services dependent on the proxy user fail to start.

The OES common proxy user’s password was set/changed in iManager and the CASA key needs to be updated.

Details:

With this script you will be able to validate the password stored in CASA for the OES common proxy user is the same password in the directory.

You will have the opportunity to set the password for the OES common proxy user in iManager, then update the common-proxy-casa CASA key and novell-cifs CASA key

The script will:

  • determine if the proxy user stored in the common-proxy-casa CASA key is the same listed in the /etc/sysconfig/novell/oes-ldap

  • display the name of the common proxy user

  • validate the password stored in CASA for the OES common proxy user is the same password in the directory

  • allow you to set a new password for the OES common proxy user with iManager if the password is not good and then update the common-proxy-casa CASA key

  • if the password is invalid allow you to set a random password for the OES common proxy user and then update the common-proxy-casa CASA key

  • determine the proxy user stored in the novell-cifs CASA key is the same in the /etc/sysconfig/novell/NvlCifs

  • display the cifs proxy user

  • validate the cifs proxy users can login

  • validate the cifs proxy user's password is the same stored in the novell-cifs CASA key

  • If the cifs proxy user is not the same as the OES common proxy user, allow you to change the password if the user can not login, then set the credentials in CASA.

If the user is not listed in the /etc/opt/novell/proxymgmt/proxy_users.conf a random password can be set.  The script will give you this option should the user's password prove to be invalid.
