2 servers hosting same zone

I have a primary zone (domainname.com) setup & are hosting by 2
Netware servers running named.
However, there is no place for me to say ServerA is the primary DNS
server for domainname.com and
ServerB is the secondary DNS server for domainname.com.

However, both will resolve DNS records. I want to make sure I have
the correct setup. My understanding is
Netware does it in the background i.e. both servers will be the
primary DNS server for domainname.com.

Any clarification would be appreciated.

Re: 2 servers hosting same zone

that is correct. Since they share dns information in NDS then there
is no need for primary/secondary when they are in the same tree (normally
there are primary and secondary servers because you can only change the data
on a primary server--then it replicates to the secondaries, if you change
the data on a secondary server it gets overwritten, in NetWare, you just
change the data in NDS then any server that is authoritative for the
zone gets the updates)

So I guess you could pretend that the management console is the
Primary Name server 🙂 and all the netware servers that are authoritative are
secondary.... 🙂
