491psp2_pka.exe - anyone using?

How is this one working out for people? I've been using 4.91 SP2 w/ a
couple of patches, this is more extensive than that.

TIA.

Re: 491psp2_pka.exe - anyone using?

Steve,

Extensive as in cumulative.
Works OK. Got it on a couple boxes for testing and I've received a
report of a Delayed Write Failed message from a shared Access database
on a NetWare 6.5 SP3 NSS volume. After applying it to my own box, I got
a similar error with my GroupWise 6.5.6 client auto-archiving to a
NetWare 6.5 SP4a NSS volume. I'm looking at installing SP5 on these
boxes, disabling file caching and leaving/enabling oplock 2 if possible.

Both likely have to do the nwfs.sys part of the update and may deserve a
service request if I can't work around them by next week.

On 491/SP2 plus a couple of patches, I've been getting that same error -
ours was a shared Visual FoxPro table - but turning Commit ON and file
caching OFF solved the problem - not the ideal solution, of course. The
server in question is NW65/SP4 and it's on an NSS volume. The default
caching and oplock values are still in place on the server.

<sigh> I guess this PSP isn't much improved from what I'm now using but
I will try it, anyway, I think.

Re: 491psp2_pka.exe - anyone using?

Same problem with an Access database. Was getting this error:

"Cannot open the Microsoft Jet engine workgroup informatioon file.
CDataClass.OpenDB"

Turning File Caching off at the client fixed it. We are leaving File Commit
off for performance reasons.
