65SP7 Portal, iManager unavailable

Good morning!
Recent NW65 install recently patched to sp7, want to install BorderManager 3.9. BMgr install tells me I don't have a new enough version of iManager.

TIDs tell me that latest iManager cannot be installed separately on NW65, must be installed as part of sp7. SP install was successful.

Can't go in on the 8008 port to get to iManager; get redirected to NRM. Tried to load portal.nlm; already loaded.

A little confused, here...

Thanks,
tony

(clarify) Re: 65SP7 Portal, iManager unavailable

Sorry, that might have been confusing. Have tried to hit the server on both 8008 and 8009; 8009 takes me thru to nrm just fine. Have also tried just hitting the server IP w/no port, which is what I typically do with my other nw65 boxes. On those, when I click on "management," I get redirected to:

https://[serverIP]/nps/servlet/frameservice?taskId=fw.Startup

When I try that path on the affected server, substituting its IP address, the error is:

Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at [serverIP].

Though the site seems valid, the browser was unable to establish a connection.

* Could the site be temporarily unavailable? Try again later.
* Are you unable to browse other sites? Check the computer's network connection.
* Is your computer or network protected by a firewall or proxy? Incorrect settings can interfere with Web browsing.

Re: (clarify) 65SP7 Portal, iManager unavailable

Please note that NORM is a separate beast from iManager. IManager isa
Java servlet and runs on Tomcat. Is tomcat loaded? What does "java
-show" say?

When the browser is unable to connect, that typically means Apache did not
load correctly. If you had a java problem, you would actually get to a web
page with a 50x error.
I suggest you check the apache2 error log in sys:apache2\log and/or you
unload apache2 and load it with the command
load apache2
and watcht he apache2 screen for errors.

Re: (clarify) 65SP7 Portal, iManager unavailable

Right, I'm aware. This is why I am surprised that, when I enter the server IP, it rolls over to the NORM login...

Re: (clarify) Re: 65SP7 Portal, iManager unavailable

after unload apache2 / load apache2, Apache 2.0.59 for NetWare shows:

sys:\\APACHE2\\APACHE2.NLM: could not open document config file sys:/apache2/conf/httpd.conf
<Press any key to continue...>

I'm thinking that's unlikely to be a good sign...

java -show now gives me:

Classname ID
===========================================
org.apache.catalina.startup.Bootstrap..... 423

Total Running: 1

Which I'm also guessing is not a good thing...

Did you check whether the file exists?

Re: (clarify) Re: 65SP7 Portal, iManager unavailable

It does not exist.

I'm not sure what's happening here. I installed the server the same as I did the two sitting right next to it, I applied the same SPs, and yet it's as if nothing is the same. I also got a tomcat5 error when it was trying to load apache, which is odd b/c tomcat5 is not installed, which is also odd. The affected server does not even have a tomcat\5 directory, the apache2\conf directory does not have a daemon subdir... When I search the KB on "install tomcat 5" I get lots of hits on reinstalling WebAccess and the like, which is of no help b/c this is not my GroupWise server...

Sigh.

Re: (clarify) Re: 65SP7 Portal, iManager unavailable

Well, it sounds like Apache2 was either never installed on your server, or
something wiped it out (or at least wiped out its configuration).
I suggest you completely remove apache2, tomcat and iManager and reinstall
it from the SP7 overlay CD.
The following TID tells you how to do this for iManager 2.5. In your case,
you should follow a similar procedure but also remove and reinstall
tomcat5 as part of the procedure. Make sure you use the overlay CDs or DVD
matching your support pack (e.g. SP7 in your case).

Thanks! I had looked up the link to the TID but had somehow forgotten to
post it.

Re: 65SP7 Portal, iManager unavailable

Thanks, you all. I think I'm just going to blow away the whole box and install w/a 6.5 sp8 ovl disk and see how that works out for me...getting tired of wrestling with this...
