AFP - Saving file causes unexpected end-of-file (eof)

Our Enviroment

OES2 SP2

Apple MAC OSX 10.6.4

We have huge problems saving files from Adope Photoshop to AFP mount points.
When doing so Photoshop says it cannot save the file due to an unexpected end-of-file (eof)

When connecting via CIFS to the same location, then the file can be save without any Problems.

Al log file while trying to save a file (simpletest.eps) is attached

First question I have is how can you be on 10.6.4 of OSX?
It is not even released yet. If you are an Apple developer than I
would suggest you contact apple.

Is this with any kind of file trying to save with afp? Is there an afp
password policy setup properly? Why does the user info keep changing?

Re: AFP - Saving file causes unexpected end-of-file (eof)

Hello warper2,

sorry it is OSX 10.6.3

It seems to a problem wich is anyhow related to Photoshop and afp mount point (cifs works), a smal test to save an *.psd file eveb also fails (cifs works)

A password policy is setup and assigned to that user.

About the user info change, i thought afp tries different options.

Is this problem anyhow known ?

I don't have photoshop here. What version is it? Can you post
your /etc/opt/novell/afptcpd/afptcpd.conf here?

I will see if I can get someone to test it to see if anything is different.
Do other types of files work ok?

Re: AFP - Saving file causes unexpected end-of-file (eof)

Hello warper2,

made a small test by quickly setting a freenas server (wich uses netatalk 2.05) and created a afp share.

While Using this freenas Testsystem, i can save from photoshop 11.01 without any problems.

I made this test to be sure that this is not an OSX/Photoshop related problem.

First I would change the rights to no which is strongly recommended by
Novell. Also Log at debug level I do not use because it just kills the
performance of afp. I actually set log to no for best performance unless
actually trying to trouble shoot a problem. I have not tested the two way
auth. I use DHX. The rights I know causes issues. Have had a lot of
discussions with Novell on that one.

I will see what I can do to see if can dupe it otherwise. It won't be right
away.

Re: AFP - Saving file causes unexpected end-of-file (eof)

Hi warper2,

well the logging is only active for debuging the problem.
Changing the rights to no and the auth to DHX did not solve the problem, still the same save error.

What trustee rights does the user have to the folder where you're trying to save the file?

Also is there any user space or directory quotas in place that might affect this user and/or folder?

Is it just this application you're having a problem with or do others (particularly other Adobe applications since they're likely to share code) have issues?
