AFP stopping

Hello,

My next issue with AFP in OES2 SP2 Linux is the service stops at seemingly random times. And even though I have enabled all logging in iManager>File Protocols>AFP, there is no data in /var/log/afptcp/afptcp.log

Anyone else experiencing these issues?

Thanks,
Larry

Re: AFP stopping

I have found that logging issue as well, check your /var/log/messages - for
some reason mine was dumping into there as well & leaving the actual
afptcp.log empty.
Is this x86 or x64?
What is your specific version of afp & ncp?

Re: AFP stopping

please provide the afptcp messages if any from /var/log/messages/. And make sure you have eanbled all kinds(status,error and debug) of logs.

Re: AFP stopping

Update:

I have patched this server with:
NCP and NSS 20090407
NSS 20090424

Same problem, AFP stops responding when users are using large graphic files.

Enclosed is the afp log at the time of the last crash, it happened between 10:15 and 10:30. I cut out some of the redundant errors in order to conform with the upload size limitation.

Thank you,
Larry

Re: AFP stopping

How big is that graphic file? What operations the users are doing with those files? Till which size of the files, the users able to work? I want to know whether the file is > 2GB.

If the problem is continuously gets reproduced, please contact the NTS(support team) and raise a bug with all the details mentioned.

Have you got this problem resolved?

We are having the exactly same problem and I just could not figure out
what cause that. Can someone advise?

Re: AFP stopping

Have you applied the new afptcpd version 10.0.0-0.36 yet? That should help to some degree.

Re: AFP stopping

afptcpd.log will be empty if the following is missing from /etc/syslog-ng/syslog-ng.conf:

filter f_afptcp {match('^afptcp');};
destination d_afptcpd {file("/var/log/afptcpd/afptcp.log");};
log {source(src); filter (f_afptcp); destination (d_afptcpd);};

It should get added automatically when AFP is installed, but that doesn't always happen for some reason.

If you have upgraded novell-afptcpd through the patch channels then you should have been prompted (from version .40 I think) to run 'upgrade_afp.sh' afterwards.

This takes care of adding the above lines and some other stuff.
