AS 11.1 & btrieve

Hello,

Would you know what I am missing by not upgrading Btrieve to version 8.50
when installing AS 11.1?

Thank you.

Eric.

Re: AS 11.1 & btrieve

Also, after you upgrade to NetWare 6.5 SPx / OES SP1x, you'll need to
re-install AS 11.1 and choose v8.5, otherwise you'll get hundreds of pcore
and pc*.* errors upon bootup.

Re: AS 11.1 & btrieve

Well, the other way around, can expect problems on the NetWare side by
upgrading it to 8.50?

Thank you again.

Eric.

Yes, which you avoid by putting "bstart.ncf" into autoexec *before*
sys:\etc\initsys.ncf.

Great, is this documented somewhere?

Thank you.

Re: AS 11.1 & btrieve

Or simply download Pervasive 8.5 from their site:

ftp://ftpuser10:xzy21h28@217.20.119.95/trials/V8/PSQL85NW.exe

use serial 123456789 (tried & it worked, but I do not believe it is real, so
should be OK to post here)

Then the whole 8.5 works with no errors

Re: AS 11.1 & btrieve

That is simply asking for troubles.
After doing it my server would never come up, it simply hangs just after
bstart & before gams.nlm

I can't comment what's going on with your server without details, but I
have several dozen servers running exactly like this. *Not* executing
bstart manually before initsys.ncf is asking for trouble. Try to run
dhcp without it for instance.

Re: AS 11.1 & btrieve

We had to do the same thing - bstart before initsys.ncf - or else DHCP was
not happy loading on any of our servers.

We also had to add some other lines first after moving bstart or else
ARCserve would keep suspending during its load (pressing a key would get it
going again though). Not sure if this is just 'us' specific, but right
before BSTART we also added: load tli, load spxs and load dsapi. Then we
had to edit the asconfig.ini and within the 'Loader' section, on the
'ORDER=' line we deleted the NLM that referred to the dsapi.nlm a little
higher in the [Loader] section. In our case it was NLM5. Then ARCserve
stopped hanging on its load and DHCP would load without user intervention.
Again, not sure if is just unique to our environment, but it worked.

Re: AS 11.1 & btrieve

OK, I have 1 server per job, so DHCP would never be on same server as backup
I only report what I found (with my setup here)

Re: AS 11.1 & btrieve

No idea, but I suspect that you are not really using Pervasive as such, but
only the bit that is needed for As to work
