Auto Logon on and off the network

I need to setup some laptops in an extremely locked down state. In doing
this I would also like them to autologon on the network (when
available) and workstation only when they are working remotely.
Autologon on the network is no problem I've seen a million (at least it
seems that way) TIDs on this subject. I was hopefull for the "offline
autologon" when I looked a the Advanced Login options in the client and
saw "Workstation Only if not connected" and "Workstation Only login
after network login" however neither of these seem to work in an
autologon setup. It continues to inform me that "Tree or Server cannot
be found" instead of performing a "Workstation Only" autologon.

Thanks in advance....
SG

Setup...
Win2K
491 client
Zen 6.5
