CIFS PROBLEM

Hi,

We installed the patch Nw65SP8 and n65nss8c on one of the two nodes of our
Netware Cluster. But now we can not access the volumes via cifs.
The Logger Screen shows the following error:

CIFS-NBNS: Unable to register CIFS server name. Most likely another server
is configured with the same CIFS server name (FS653-W:::::::2) as this
server. Retrying using modified name.

Any Ideas?

Regards.

Adrian.

There is a limit of 15 characters to CIFS server names. By default the
CIFS server name is set to the first 13 characters of the file server
name with "-W" appended. Things get interesting if file server names
are longer than 13 characters.

Are there other servers on your network (not just in the cluster) that
start with the first 13 characters of the name of this particular server?

HTH.
