I don't believe so, but what do you see when you login to NRM -> Manage NCP Services -> Manage Shares

Do you see "SYS" on the list?
And does it show that NCP is bound to it?

Re: Can't mount SYS volume in OES2

Can't see SYS share in the list, only _ADMIN, DATA, APPS.

How to troubleshoot?

Thanks

If you pull up /etc/opt/novell/ncpserv.conf, do you have the following
line?

VOLUME sys /usr/novell/sys

If so... does /usr/novell/sys exist? What are the permissions and
ownership? Here I see the permissions are 755, ownership is root.root.

Re: Can't mount SYS volume in OES2

hi,

check the file /etc/opt/novell/ncpserv.conf doesn't have sys volume setting, add it back, and try to 'ncpcon mount SYS' still get error 152. Here is the permission output of the sys folder in Linux.

staff:/etc/opt/novell # ll /usr/novell/
total 0
drwxr-xr-x 5 root root 128 Nov 10 20:26 sys

It is 755, do I need restart whole server?
And why the ncpserv.conf missing the sys setting? Is it caused by changed the NCP logging option log level to nothing?

VOLUME sys /usr/novell/sys

NCP_FILE_SERVER_NAME staff
LOG_LEVEL nothing

Thanks

Re: Can't mount SYS volume in OES2

Hi,
Look the creation step in NRM, it have attribute option that 'inherit_POSIX_Permissions', should check this box? cause the server is production server and I don't want to make any mistake the important SYS volume.

Please help comment.

Thanks

You can easily recreate it via NRM

See this thread from a few months ago:
