Connecting Mac OS 10 to NetWare 5.1

I have 82 PC on my network, needless to say, one user in the
multimedia
insisted, relented and got a Mac OS 10. The problem is, I am unable to

connect this to our network. The protocol we are using is IPX. The
information manager insisted that will be the case, regardless. My
understanding is, this Mac will only connect to a pure IP system.I
bought
Native File Access, tried setting it up, but it did not work. Any
suggestion that you may care to offer will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

martell

PS
a happy new year to you all!!

Re: Connecting Mac OS 10 to NetWare 5.1

Native File Access for Macintosh (NFAM) is an Apple Filing Protocol
(AFP)
server that operates only over TCP/IP.

Although there was an IPX-based Novell NetWare Client for Mac OS (9.x
and
older), I believe the NetWare Client for Mac OS X (from Prosoft
Engineering)
is IP-only.

NFAM requires an IP address be bound on the NetWare file server and
the
client - but I believe the preferred protocol for NetWare Core
Protocol
(NCP) can still be IPX/SPX.

NFAM requires NMAS is properly setup (including the server must have a

replica of the user account), and simple passwords will need to be
set, and
you won't be able to browse from the Mac to find the file server, butentering the server's IP address in the Connect to Server dialogue box

should work.

In addition to Sandy's comments...

Did you also update eDirectory and meet all other prerquisite
requirements (such as using IP)? What does "it did not work" mean? Please be specific.
