Consoleone stuck NDS sync

Hi all,

We are using Netware OES 6.5 sp6 with c1 version 1.3.6f
There seems to be problems performing certain tasks
in Consoleone.

As an example when I try and change a password a box pops
up that says:
NDS Object Sync
Please wait, waiting for NDS Sync

I was not able to find much info other than this seemed to
happen on other sites when they installed SP6 to thier servers
and started using ConsoleOne V 1.3.6f

tks

Re: Consoleone stuck NDS sync

We raised a call with Novell regarding this problem, and they have
advised us that it will be fixed in C1 1.3.6h (no dates for this yet
though). In the meantime they have advised us to use C1 1.3.6e as a
workaround.

Its probably worth you considering raising this with Novell too -
perhaps they might think about issueing a fix sooner if a number of
people complain?

Re: Consoleone stuck NDS sync

We at AC3 have about 25 netware servers all in diff. Tree's. Most just
single servers in there own tree. We have also noticed the same problem
when we upgraded to ConsoleOne 1.36 F ( also for DLS time ). Thats when
it started. We have this problem on all servers now. Its only when we
change and eDirectory password for the user.

Our problem seems to be centered around password also.

Re: Consoleone stuck NDS sync

As you can see from the many messages on this topic here, this is a well
known issue and was already fixed long ago by Novell. Unfortunately, the
ConsoleOne version that fixed the issue (1.3.6g) was pulled shorty after
its release for other reasons and Novell has never bothered to release a
separate patch for the NDS sync issue.
You currently have 3 solutions:

1) Go back to ConsoleOne 1.3.6e

2) Call Novell to get the patch that fixes the issue

3) Ask Hamish for his unofficial non Novell patch which he put together

Re: Consoleone stuck NDS sync

If we call Novell, will they charge us a call for this issue.

Thanks,
Linda

They will charge you upfront. If you discuss with the support engineer, he
may reverse the charge, but that is not guaranteed.

Re: Consoleone stuck NDS sync

PS. Novell's official reply n the issue is that the patch is not tested
against ConsoleOne 1.3.6f and will therefore not be released on its own.
It will however be included in ConsoleOne 1.3.6h which will be part of SP7.

Nothing official, but you might see a public beta soon and a release a few
weeks later.
