Consolidation & Data Classification

Hi All! I am using NetWare for my file servers and I am looking at doing a
consolidation and am having some other issues and before I migrate my data
I thought I would find out what I have there and make some adjustments. I
haven't seen too many products that can assist me and I thought I would ask
if you knew of any good products that could help me out.

Re: Consolidation & Data Classification

well, there aren't many out there. you have to look at the file system
and figure it out, really. how much do these users use for personal
files and how much is email storage and how much is databases, etc...

the 3 big issues to look out for in the consolidation are preserving
trustee rights, changing login scripts/drive mappings and the time
window to do the data move.

but you're on the right track by trying to make some sense of what you
have before you just start moving files around. Clean up the files
_before_ you move because you certainly won't do it afterwards (people
never do)....
