Creating NSS volume

I've just built a test OES2 SP2 & SLES10SP3 server. I have / and swap on one drive (/dev/sda). I have a separate drive (/dev/sdb) on which I want to run NSS. What's recommended for the second partition: LVM, Reiser or EXT3. I don't see an EVMS in the Expert Partitioner so I'm not sure which way to go.

Any recommendations?

As it is a seperate disk, you don't need to worry about it, if you only
want to run NSS on it. (I think it may use EVMS underneath, but I have
never even been to the evmgui)

Just run nssmu on the OES console/ssh session it looks the same as nssmu
on Netware

Re: Creating NSS volume

Thanks. Just created the partition, pools, and volumes in iManager on sdb. Worked like a charm.

Re: Creating NSS volume

Joel: I too am testing OES 2. I am curious, when you
created your NSS partition, did it also create a traditional
partition also? I used nssmu to create mine. I am thinking
that the reported traditional partition is an artifact.

I don't know if this is still true but it used to be if you used NSSMU on
Linux to manage/create your NSS volumes then you could never use iManager
to do so on that volume. So I have always used iManager. Not sure if that
is still the case or if even most people care about iManager.

Chris,

When you say traditional partition...do you mean from the the stuff that
gets created under /opt/novell/nss? You will see two mount points
created. One will be the NSS pool and the other should be the actual
volume.

Nope. I went to iManager, init disk, created pools, created volumes and that worked.
