DHCP Server & IP-Pool

We are running the dhcp-server-3.0.3-23.52 on SUSE10-OES2 and the Novell DNS/DHCP Management Console (version; OES2 SP1 BETA4 8/28/2008) for administration.
Everything works fine - with leases, clustering and administration - but the DHCP-Pool in eDirectory doesnt get populated by the leased addresses - so you cant get track of ip-addresses wich have leased.

The ip- and mac-adresses are only stored in the "dhcpd.leases" file.

Does anyone know how it is supposed to work? Should eDirectory get polulated by the leased addresses, or is it the dhcp.leases file alone?

best regards,
Heiti Ernits

Re: DHCP Server & IP-Pool

Heiti,

we do not operate edirectory based dhcp services at the moment, we use the pure sles version, but I guess it should populate them into the edirectory. Otherwise it would not make so much sense to have it edirectory enabled.

Can you check your /var/log/messages to see if you get any error messages about problems updating the leases in edirectory ?

Re: DHCP Server & IP-Pool

I have the same problem:
The DNS DHCP console does not show leases unter the pool.

Can anyone tell if this is by design or if that is supposed to work?
The leases are only shown in dhcpd.leases.
The console used to show everything fine using DHCP on netware.

Thanks,
Simon

In OES 2 SP 1 Linux the leases get populated only in the file and are not stored in eDirectory.

Re: DHCP Server & IP-Pool

'Upgrading' from NW to linux seems to be full of these 'downgrades' in functionality.
Hopefully with time Novell will fix these. (esp. NSS auditting)
