DST updater for DNS/DHCP

When trying to use the groovy Sun tzupdater on my W2k machine to update the jre for DNS/DHCP console, I get the following error below. This is accomplished by following tid 3621952. Now the jre in the install directory is part of a data.z file I believe. So no update can be done on that side. It needs to be performed on the workstation side. Anyone run into this?

I was going to try this, but it seems Novell's download servers are
down for the moment. I'll revisit this later and get back to you.

Re: DST updater for DNS/DHCP

Are you using the DNS/DHCP management tool from NetWare 6.5 SP5 or later?
Older versions are based on older Java runtimes for which the update does
not work.

Re: DST updater for DNS/DHCP

I installed over the old one on my workstation with the newer install from nw65sp6. By viewing help and about, the version is 6.5-sp6 8/31/06. Does not mention the JRE runtime version though.

I was able to update the 6.5-sp3 version without errors. Have you
tried re-downloading the file in case your download was damaged?

And you'll have to remembed to do it every single time you install that
tool.

My question is, does it really matter? What are the ramifications of
DNS-DHCP not being patched?

Re: DST updater for DNS/DHCP

I re-downloaded the tool and it work! Thanks, I probably would have tried that eventually. Due to the fact that there are many instances of JRE on a workstation, this should probably be run on all of them, correct? Does anyone know what version of JRE is fixed already?

Thanks

It will probably show lease start and end times that are off by one hour
during the problem periods. However who really checks those values and who
cares if they are off by one hour?

That's my point. I'm inclined not to even bother with dnsdhcp console.

Good to hear, and glad to help.

It should be run on any workstation with the DNSDHCP Console installed.
Beyond that, I don't know.

I suspect Sun's website would have info on that. Also, they may have
updates that fix "standard" jre installations without user
intervention, vs. Novell's "built into the utility" installation.

If you have SP5 or later installed, just run the installation program
(setup.exe) from the sys:public\dnsdhcp directory of your server.
