Daily reboot required for iFolder 3 server

Greetings,

I have a test iFolder 3 server (OES Linux SP2, ifolder version
3.2.5347.1-1) that requires a reboot each morning to allow users to
authenticate - this appears to affect the WebAccess as well as client
access.

I have tried restarting apache, even with a stop and then a start -
checking that mono has shutdown in between as well, but this does not
resolve the problem - only a reboot does that.

The install doesn't have a local eDir but uses LDAP and is running on
ESX - if that makes a difference to anything.

The apache logs are not showing anything, but I'm not sure if mono
keeps logs somewhere that I can check.

Any ideas greatly appreciated.

TIA,
Alister

Re: Daily reboot required for iFolder 3 server

Alister,

This shouldn't happen on the server of course. The iFolder 3 server
already restarts itself for maintenence every day at 4:15am anyway. You
should enable debug logging on the server and then monitor the output of
the Simias.log. You can find some directions for this here:

http://www.ifolder.com/index.php/Troubleshooting

You should be able to manually restart the ifolder process on the server
without rebooting the whole machine by executing the init scripts in
/etc/cron.daily ie; a-simias-stop will kill the server and its children
or z-simias-start will do the reverse.

Re: Daily reboot required for iFolder 3 server

Hi Victor,

I thought it was supposed to restart daily, but either the install did
not complete properly or it's changed because there are definitely no
simias-start and simias-stop scripts as there were in the OES SP1
version that I toyed with previously.

The server has also managed to last a few days this time before
requiring a restart.

Thanks for your pointers on the troubleshooting.

Much appreciated!

Re: Daily reboot required for iFolder 3 server

OK - that was useful - I have now determined that the web service is
eiher not running or not responding as per the "check to make sure that
the web service is working on the server" chapter.

executing "/opt/novell/ifolder3/etc/simias-stop" then simias-start
doesn't change the state of the web service either.

/var/log/ifolder3/web.log reports ServiceUnavailable for any attempt to
login to the Web interface.
