Daylight Savings Problem help please..

Hello there
I am using Novell Netware 6.5 SP8 version
There is also a post office on it
Turkey is no longer using daylight saving time.
So now our time zone has changed to + 03: 00

Although I make the time zone settings on NetWare as follows, the incoming mail comes back 1 hour

I could not figure out exactly where I was wrong
How do I change the clock on the post office?

My time zone on NetWare is as follows.

Set daylight savings time offset = 1:00:00
Set Start Of Daylight Savings Time = ( MARCH SUNDAY LAST 2:00:00 AM )
SET End Of Daylight Savings Time = (OCTOBER SUNDAY LAST 2:00:00 AM )
Set time zone = EAT-3EATD

Re: Daylight Savings Problem help please..

Hi and welcome to the forums!

It's been a long time since I've had to tinker with DLS on NetWare.

Which version of GroupWise are you running? Could be you need to adjust settings and/or place some updates for the agents too.

If you have not seen it yet, this TID might help (also note the GroupWise versions and mentioned patch levels): https://www.novell.com/support/kb/doc.php?id=3802376

Please let us know about the running GroupWise version and patch level. Curious to know how you go...

Cheers,
Willem

Re: Daylight Savings Problem help please..

AFAIK, Turkey is at UTC+3 all the year now, while your box still has a DST configured. As for NetWare itself, i'd assume you'd be correct with

Set daylight savings time offset = 0:00:00
Set Start Of Daylight Savings Time =
SET End Of Daylight Savings Time =
Set time zone = TRT-3

Bounce the box, enter BIOS and set time to current local time. Do this after hours as there's no warranty on forum tips. Once the box is back up, enter "time". It should tell you that DST is OFF along with correct info for both UTC and local time.
Please note that this just handles the NW part, it's NOT about Java or GW itself.

Hello
Thank you for your interest
I am using Groupwise 8.0 on a Netware 6.5 SP8 system

Turkey has now lifted daylight saving time
So I would like to disable the daylight saving time on the system and make it permanent as time zone +03: 00, but what if I did not fix it

Even if it is recovered, it returns to its original state after a while

TRT-3 does not have a time zone.

You can change the time zone definitions in GroupWise:
https://books.google.se/books?id=fKGhTJscMJQC&pg=PA169&lpg=PA169&dq=groupwise+time+zone+definitions&source=bl&ots=EVoONr_5Gl&sig=juxJMhj5NvFpb1ghGyhzGTrh7O0&hl=sv&sa=X&redir_esc=y#v=onepage&q=groupwise%20time%20zone%20definitions&f=false

Then just create one. Note that you may still have issues with stuff
like webaccess and calendar publisher that relies on Java timezones.

I did it by NetWare
Set Time Zone = EAT-3
Summer time is off

GroupWise 8.0 left behind
If I can remove the summer time in it and set the clock to +03: 00, my problem will be solved.

How do we turn off the GroupWise summer clock?

Re: Daylight Savings Problem help please..

the three letters themselves have no relevance for the calculation, so you can safely name it
XXX-3
ABC-3
EMC-3
or whatever fits your needs.

You need to change the timezone in GroupWise also. The link I provided
above explains how.
