Error -319 changing user password in Consoleone - and other issues!

Hello kind helpful people 🙂 - am hoping some one out there will have a
solution for me.

We have recently updated our clients across site to 4.91 Sp3 (sp4 wasn't
out when we put out our image). We are running Windows XP on clients,
Netware 6.5 Sp6 on servers.

We now have lots of issues with consoleone. Not sure if this is an Sp6
thing or the client Sp3. Trying to change user passwords for example gets
an "Error -319 An internal program error has occurred". Ok - I can use
imanager to change the password but that's not my only issue. Stay with
me...

Creating users or performing other tasks in Consoleone now gets a little
"waiting for NDS sync" message and more often that not this hangs the
machine. Now I would use imanager for all my maintenance needs except
this doesn't give me my Groupwise functionality (or ZEN but that's a
separate issue I suppose).

Have tried reverting to an older local copy of Consoleone - no joy. Am
just about to try a machine with client Sp2 on it.

Have also seen some posts/TIDs about installing NMAS in the client
(generally we are not using NMAS so it wasn't on) - tried this too and
still no joy. Although I sometimes get other NMAS errors when it's not
there.....

Could someone please help me sort out my consoleone? Any tips would be
much appreciated. I have tried clean installs of various versions of C1 -
am thinking this is a client issue.

Oh yes, and today I've tried upgrading my client to Sp4 - with and without
NMAS - still no joy!

Help please! Will post the results of trying it with Sp2 back on.

Thanks.

This is a known bug in C1 1.36f. You can either use 1.36e still, or log
a call with Novell and ask for a fixed file.

What NMAS errors and where do you get them? If on the client then you
must have NMAs enabled; you don't say what you upgraded client32 from
but 4.91 will install NMAS by default so it's probably on. This may
explain your 319 errors too, that's usually caused by a CA, PKI, or
other related issue and if NMAS is off won't happen.

Re: Error -319 changing user password in Consoleone - and other issues!

Thanks for the response. After a lot of messing about we have indeed gone
back to 1.3.6 e for now. We found we still need NMAS locally - with the
newer SP3 client.

Am suprised that Novell don't offer this as a standard fix or put a fixed
download for consoleone 1.3.6f on the web.

Anyway we're working at the mo, so will carry on and wait for the next
release of consoleone!

Thanks again

Sharon

Re: Error -319 changing user password in Consoleone - and ot

The Tid that helped me fix this problem was this on.

10068331: Error "Failed to set the current tree name. Can not continue"

Error -319 when trying to set or change NDS password

First uninstall NICI on the workstation using Add/Remove Programs. You must then manually delete the NICI system files located in the C:\WINDOWS\system32\novell\nici directory. It is best to simply delete the entire nici directory. This folder is protected and you will need to boot the workstation in SAFE MODE and then take ownership of the folder and files as the Administrator of the workstation before you can delete the files. Once the files are deleted, reboot the workstation in normal mode and then reinstall the latest version of NICI.

Re: Error -319 changing user password in Consoleone - and ot

I found the error 319 occurred when using NMAS and had users trying to run the freeware application passwd [http://prope.insa-lyon.fr/~ppollet/netware/passwd/index.ssi].

I found many lengthy discussions about workstation rights and Sysprep causing problems with NICI. Most solutions recommended reinstalling NMAS and/or NICI but I found an easy fix...

Deploy the following registry entry via ZEN or login script:

"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Novell\NICI"

New dword of "EnableUserProfileDirectory"
Value of "1"

The users were again able to run the above utility without errors.
