Error: Server License Expired for Novell Netware 6 Server 650

Not sure if this is the correct area to post this but I wasn't sure where
to turn to. I am getting the error message listed. It is broadcast every
15 minutes on the server console. The only effect that I can see it has
is that when a new user is created that user can't log in to the server
unless I take the server down then start again. We have had the server
running for about 5 months now and this problem surfaced in the last 30
days. Thanks for any help you can provide. We are using Novell Client
4.91.

This typically means you have a time bombed demo license installed and
that license expired. You should remove the demo license and replace it
with a real license. Maybe you already added the real license but
forgot to remove the demo license.

Re: Error: Server License Expired for Novell Netware 6 Server 650

>Marcel,

First, thanks for the reply. Prior to your answery my assumption was that
I installed a demo as opposed to the real license. The trouble is...
where is the real license? We purchased a 6.5 upgrade from Novacoast
several months ago. Prior to the purchase I explained that we were
runnning Novell 3.2 on a server and the 6.5 would be installed on a new
server with the plan to discontinue the use of the old server as time
permitted. Did I purchase the wrong product? If so what can I do to get a
license now?

Thanks again for the help.

What license objects do you have in your tree? List any objects that have
a name beginning with "Novell+NetWare ...". If you do not have the correct
license, you will need to go back to your reseller, Novacoast. But first,
let's see what you have installed.

Well, maybe you do have the correct licence, but you just didn't
install it, or you installed it after having used a demo license before
and you didn't remove the demo license.
The demo license is included on every installation CD. You don't get it
as an external file.
The real licenses are typically delivered by email these days. You get
an email to download and exe which you can use to generate a license
diskette and which you can then use to install your server.
Now what you have to look for is if you ever got the email with the
license or possibly a diskette with the license.
