File Shares for Copier/Scanner

Hello All,

I'm running Novell Netware 6.5 - SP8 and I'm trying to setup a copier/scanner to work. Here's the thing, if I setup a File Share on one of my Windows Server, then I can connect it to the copier for my users to scan to. What I'd like to do is something similar using my Netware Server instead (because I'd like my users to scan to their home directories).

On the copier, I setup the user to scan to "\\192.168.100.3\JeffScans" - where "JeffScans" is the file share name that I've setup in Windows - I'd like to do this via Netware.

Any help or guidance would be helpful - thanks in advance!!

Does the scanner support NCP Shares? If not, you need to configure and
load CIFS to make the NW server look like a Windows one.

I'm not familiar with NCP Shares or CIFS - I'll have to look into those... any pointers?

NCP = NetWare Cre protocol. Ask the vendor if the scanner supports
NEtWare severs. If not:

Re: File Shares for Copier/Scanner

We do a lo of this. We use FTP to do it. Works great. Most of these MFD's support FTP. Its easy to test, and when its broken, easy to troubleshoot.

You can set up CIFS shares from NetWare, also easy, Google or RTFM will help with that. They work with our Ricoh's which also do NCP.

Re: File Shares for Copier/Scanner

You didn't say what brand of multifunction...Mine supposedly supported
Netware servers, but I couldn't get it functioning correctly. Ended
up just using the FTP option which works great.
