How I Solved ConsoleOne on Windows 7

I've seen questions about this all over the place and i though i'd share how i got it working.
Note - it isn't perfect; on 2 installs find has caused the "eggtimer" when using find but your experience may differ.
This is in addition to adding the entries in the registry.
32bit entries - HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Novell\NetWareWorkstation\CurrentVersion
64bit entries - HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Novell\NetWareWorkstation\CurrentVersion

o We shall assume Console One is located in C:\consoleone\1.2
o Java (64bit windows) – C:\Program Files (x86)\Java
o Java (32bit windows) – C:\Program Files\Java

o Go to your appropriate java location and copy the jre6 folder to the console one folder - You should now have 2 JRE folders, “jre” and “jre6
o Go into “jre\bin” and copy the “server” folder and paste it into “jre6\bin
o Rename the “jre” folder to “jre4” (this is java 1.4, just for reference)
o Rename the “jre6” folder to “jre
o bin\ConsoleOne.exe should now launch in full aero mode and auto-auth you, provided you are signed into Novell

please feed back if you can progress any further and get search working.

Wouldn't it be easier to use the supported configuration? Download
GroupWise 8.02. Get the ConsoleOne from that distribution. Use it.

I was not able to find information regarding that which is why I used trial and error to get it working.
Plus, it's a bit of fun figuring stuff like that out. Wasn't actually for myself, it was for a colleague who was also attempting to get it working.

Thanks. Still, I'd be happier if they just provided the recommended
version (the one w/Groupwise 8.0.2) in a standalone download; can't
figure out why they don't!

Because ConsoleOne is no longer supported as a product in it's own
right. Since it is still used to manage GroupWise so has been taken over
by that team and thus only available as part of GroupWise download.
