Linux kernel sources (C headers for 2.6.1.54-0.2.5-default)

Seems that after updating OES2 to all patches I can not install vmware-tools
(as the kernel changed)
Vmware tools can compile,, but I seem not to have C headers for running
kernel

Anybody has an idea where to get them

Thanks

Seb

In the "kernel-source" package; try something like:
zypper in make
zypper in gcc
zypper in kernel-source
cd /usr/src/linux
make cloneconfig prepare
vmware-config-tools.pl

Re: Linux kernel sources (C headers for 2.6.1.54-0.2.5-default)

Had to get the sources from
http://rpmfind.net/linux/RPM/Development_Sources.html (no idea where to find
them on Novell's site)
and rebuild the tools (after which they work fine)

Re: Linux kernel sources (C headers for 2.6.1.54-0.2.5-default)

I know that Novell want people to move from NettWare to OES2 based on Suse.

But for God sake, how is the normal administrator supposed to know all
these, when it is presented in such confusing way with almost nonexisting
support

Almost like one was given a bike with bolts & nuts in a paper bag, but some
of the frame already put together

Nightmare IMHO

On the update server or on the installation media; "zypper in kernel-source"
should install it for you.

Software for the Open Enterprise

on the installation media would install OUTDATED kernel sources

On the update - I have NO idea how to point it there

zypper will automatically take the latest available version from the
installation/update sources set up in YaST. "zypper sl" will list those
sources and should include a nu.novell.com update source for the online
updates. This repository is added automatically as part of the registration
procedure; redo the "Novell Customer Center Configuration" module in YaST if
it is missing or disabled.

Re: Linux kernel sources (C headers for 2.6.1.54-0.2.5-defau

zypper sl does NOT have the nu.novell.com as source
BUT
rug sl DOES HAVE the nu.novell.com as Type NU ACTIVE source

Is that what one could expect?
I assume not, but to fix it? (yet another thing to fix)

Can not add (sa) https://nu.novell.com to zypper as I get 401 error (auth failed) when trying to read repo xml
I see no way to add credentials to the channel in zypper
