Login Failed. Error code: 0x800789FC
Hi,
We get this randomly when users logging in to the computer. The computer has Windows 7 Sp1, Novell client 2 sp2 IR5, zenworks agent 11.2.2 monthly update 2.
The error messages:
•Login Failed. Error code: 0x800789FC
•The tree or server cannot be found. Choose a different tree or server.
What is wrong?
It also take a long time to login. I got the tips to change settings in the registry regardings user source, but when I did that the Novell client don´t show after reboot or login out.
Best regards,
Annika Linderson

It sounds like a network/infrastructure problem. I guess this is the same
network where you have intermittent ZCM problems as well?
Anyway, best way to troubleshoot this is to do this:
Grab a "dumb network hub", does not matter if it is just a 10mb one.
Take network cable from PC. Put in hub
Connect another cable from hub to PC
Connect a third cable to a laptop
Install Wireshark on laptop
Check that you indeed see the traffic from the PC and server on Wireshark
Start a capture
Power on PC
when you arrive at the login screen, note the approximate packet number
on the wireshark screen
Start stopwatch, log in
When logged in, note the time it took and approx packet number
Save the trace file and mail it to me at d a l t o n AT p e d a g o DOT f
i
Or simply hand it to me at Brainshare in Salt Lake city.
In most cases, a trace file will point to what is wrong.

ZDM7 and ZCM are two different beasts altogether. I assume that you have
installed Win7 and the new client also?
"Server not found" and long login times are all indications of something
being wrong and a packet trace should tell what.

Try Client2 SP2 IR*6*: Support | Logging in quickly after booting fails with "The tree or server cannot be found", 0xC7FD0028 or 0x800789FC
