Memory Problem

Hoi,

I've posted this before and it looked like the problem was solved but
unfortunately it didn't.

I've upgrade my server from nw65sp4 to nw65sp5 with
n65nss5a
nw65os5a
iprntnw65sp5d
tsa5up19
I also run cluster services 1.7.
I have a 2 x 3 node cluster, they are all on the same patch level.
I hoped to get rid of my memory problem but there's still a problem.

When i boot my server i have 61 % cache buffers, then i start my
backup(data protector 5.5 with latest patches) and sometimes(not always and
untill now only on 2 servers) during my backup
the cache buffer memory goes to 29%...And stays there. Miscellaneous
memory goes up to 53%

Then i got the advice below and it looked like it solved the problem but
it's less
frequently but it still exists
I've added to the smsstart.ncf the add "/CacheMemoryThreshold=2" parameter.

Here is a screenshot of seg.nlm

Re: Memory Problem

Can you load seg.nlm, wait til the problem occurs, and get a copy of the
segstats.txt for the server (load seg, then from the seg main screen '/'
-> Info -> Write Segstats) then post that here.

Also, Can you do a "load config /jumba1se" from the server, then post
the resulting sys:system\config.txt, after removing the file listing
that occurs after the set commands, and any sensitive infomation- eg
serial number, public IP addresses, snmp community strings, remote
access passwords etc.

Re: Memory Problem

Ok, i'll do that.
The error occurs mostly in the weekends with the full backup so it takes a
few days

Thanks !

; This is a sample of the slp configuration file.
; Two types of entries can be made: 1) DA entries, 2) SA Register Filters.
;
; The DA entry allows static configuration of a known DA. This would be
used
; when the DA was out of multicast range and DHCP was not being used to
; configure the DA.
; The static DA configuration format is as follows 'DA <addr type>,
<addr>'.
; The first word must be "DA". The addr type is the address type.
Currently, only
; IPV4 has been defined. IPV6 will be defined in the future. The addr is
; the address specified.
;
; The following is an example of a static DA.
; DA IPV4, 130.1.1.1
;
; The SA Register Filter would be used when the administrator wanted all
services
; of a specific service type being mapped to a single scope. For example,
; the administrator wanted all "lpr" printers being registered to scope
"printer".
; The format is as follows: 'REGISTER TYPE "<type name>" to SCOPE "<scope
name>"'.
; The parser will look for REGISTER, TYPE, and SCOPE as keywords followed
by quote on
; a single line. Example:
;
; REGISTER TYPE "lpr" to SCOPE "eng"
;
; The last line must contain a line feed and char return. A semi-colon
specifies a
; comment.

Ok, i'll do that.
The error occurs mostly in the weekends with the full backup so it takes a
few days

Thanks !

=?ISO-8859-1?Q?=A4=A44=2E10_Patches?=

That looks OK, I have to say. But let's see the Segstats.

Edit sys:system/smsstart.ncf and check that the TSAFS load line is as
follows:

LOAD TSAFS /CacheMemoryThreshold=1

Re: ¤¤4.10 Patches

I have him running at LOAD TSAFS /CacheMemoryThreshold=2
Is that a problem ?

No, that should be near enough.

Re: Memory Problem

This one has a fairly large amount of fragmented memory, which is
unusual these days. Did you do the TSAFS thing on this one too?

Was this Segstats.txt taken while the errors were occurring?

We need to see the CONFIG /jumba1se on this one too, pls.

Re: Memory Problem

Yes on all servers.

Was this Segstats.txt taken while the errors were occurring?
A little bit later because i think it happens in a second

The server we were talking about had the problem too, here's the
segstats.txt of the nws21:
It always occurs during or at the finishing of the backup, i suspect the
data protector nlm's but can't prove it.

Re: Memory Problem

Each server having a memory problem needs to be diagnosed individually,
and in each case we need the segstats and the config /jumba1se files. So
can you put each server's info in it's own post, thanks. And can you
include the smsstart.ncf file too? Thx.
