Missing or invalid directory path for the CIFS share

System: OES2sp1 + all patches to 9/8/09

When trying to add a CIFS share I get the following error. "Missing or
invalid directory path for the CIFS share" Il also get an error when I try
to add it via comand line.

I know this question was posted a few months back but there was never a
resolution. Anybody have an idea to what the solution is?

Thanks,

Joel

Re: Missing or invalid directory path for the CIFS share

I found the problem. I have a CIFS share that is not showing up in my lists
of shares. So when I try to add that share I get the error. If I add a
different share it works fine.

So how do I fix a the problem of the share not showing in Imanager?

Thanks,

Joel

Re: Missing or invalid directory path for the CIFS share

The problem is normally fixed by restarting cifs on the host server
rcnovell-cifs restart

This restart happens very quickly and on our system at least has no noticable effect on users.

We sometimes see this problem with the host is restarted and other servers that connect with a CIFS mount are not. We often have to unmount the cifs mount on the client server, restart cifs on the host server and remount the cifs mount.

Eric.
