NAMED.NLM -603 error

30-10-2003 14:52:51 : NAMED-5.10-6
Error -603 during read of attr DNIP:Zone Domain Name

The error message above is displayed on my NetWare DNS servers.
Does anybody have a suggestion how I can resolve this?

Re: NAMED.NLM -603 error

-603 is a missing NDS attribute error, indicating a problem with the NDS object. Try doing a DS health check -- if problems exist, you may

need to visit the DS forums for additional assistance.

Thanks for the reply.
It looks like that the DNS-DHCP Locator-object has a missing
attribute.
Is it possible to delete and recreate this object with no loss of DNS
and
SHCP records/objects?

No.

If you can, export your DHCP subnets and DNS zones to text files using
the
Management Console. After that you'll probably need to use DNIPINST
-R
which will REMOVE ALL DNS and DHCP objects from your tree, then run
DNIPINST
to reinstall DNS and DHCP. After the installation, recreate your
servers
for both, then import the files you exported earlier.

If you can't do the exports, I suspect you have the choice of losing
all
your DNS and DHCP configs, or calling Novell tech support, hoping they
can
find a way to fix things without data loss.

Re: NAMED.NLM -603 error

Thanks Brad. I'll open an Incident with Novell TechSupport for this.

Kind regards, Martijn Pepping
