NSS /POOLFREEZE

I can't find a good explanation of this command. I am using the command to "freeze" my NSS Pool that has three segments on a SAN so I can get a snapshot of the pool----I have questions:
1. When the command is executed, does this lock out users accessing the pool and volumes for write access?

2. Or does it cache it some where waiting for the pool to be thawed?

PS--Using NetWare 6.5 Sp7

Re: NSS /POOLFREEZE

All I can find is Novell Documentation which doesn't answer your question. I guess you could test it fairly easily though.

But why are you freezing it to take snapshots? AFAIK that's not a normal practice.

Re: NSS /POOLFREEZE

I am freezing to get a snapshot using the Compellent SAN block snapshot - called Replay. I have multiple segments encompassed in my pool and if you do not do a freeze, your snapshot is invalid based on segmentation issues.
