NSS volume disappeared

Hi,
My nss volume (pool) will not mount anymore.

I have a HP dl380 G5 with 4x146GB sas R5

Array A--> 3x log. volumes

Fist Log vol (A) has 60GB
Second log. vol (B) has 214 GB
Third log. vol (C) has 130 GB

The system is installed following

sles10SP2 --> Dom0
sles10+oes2 -->DomU

Log Vol (A) has / boot ,swap,...
log Vol (B) has /LVM and /xen (for the images )
log Vol (c) was reserved for domU to be configured as a nss volume, (one Pool with one nss volume)

This was working as designed.

Now I installed groupwise 7 at the domU and I used the nss volume for groupwise.
This was also working as designed (installed domain, postoffice, gwia) since 3 days
today I installed webaccess on this DomU, after I finished the installation I could test and webaccess was
working fine.

Some time later (3 hours) I take a reboot of the domU (dont know why!!), after that new start, my
nss volume was gone.
I tried all what I know to get the pool to active status. (nss, nssmu, ravsui,..) but I cannot reactivate the pool.

I remember if such things happens under netware it was possible to start the server with special switches
and after that I could rebuild or repair pools.

The only info what I found was to implement /pooldeactivate at nssstart.conf what I did and I tried after reboot
to activate the pool manually, no success.

any suggestions ?

I had the same problem last week. Go into iManager and see if it is
active; if not; activate it. I have a post to find out why this happened
to me; the only thing new I did was Use the on-line update.

Antw: Re: NSS volume disappeared

Hi,

thank you for your response.

My problem is, I cannot see a pool at imanager anymore, also there is no partition displayed at imanager .
what I can see is with evmsgui that the partiton is still here.

Re: Antw: Re: NSS volume disappeared

Happened to me this summer after update.
Search down in previous threads - helped me.
It had to do with certificates - reimport them and be sure to restart
server not just restart service.
First try to restart the server a couple of times - someone suggested
this.

All in all do not panic and mess with partitions if this server has been
up and running. I bet all the information is there. evmsgui setup can
get confusing at times especially with many partitions. POST you Expert
Partitioner information in this thread.
>

ToDo:
1. Attach or paste a good screen shot of Expert Partitioner.
2. Goto ssh session as root "# ls /dev/evms" Paste that info here.
3. Goto ssh session as root "# rug ca" Paste that info here.
4. Goto ssh session as root "# df -h" Paste that info here.

I'll see if I can help from there

Re: Antw: Re: NSS volume disappeared

Now I have it going again.

Don't know what did it in the end, but now everything is up again.
had to recreate nam.conf and the users are still lacking www + wwwrun
but I'll get them there to get webservices up too.

Thanks,

DB
