NW65 Upg - root or CA first

Preparing some more for our upgrade. NW6sp4 Tree to NW65sp4/OESsp1.

CA is on one of our Cluster Servers.
Root eDir is on our standalone server.

Which one should go first? We've got 11 (out of 18) servers we are planning
to do Saturday.

Geez, this talk of NSS patches and such at the 11th hour is concerning. So
we know about NSS - any other patches?

Thanks,
Jim

Re: NW65 Upg - root or CA first

I meant to say "Master" - instead of root. Sorry for the confusion.

move the master of root to the CA server.
do upgrade.
move the master of root back to original server.

RE: Upgrading from NW6sp4 to NW65sp4/OESsp1. 18 server tree (had planned 11
this weekend)

Our server with the CA is a cluster node with RWs of everything. Would we
still need to make it the eDir Master, or would the RWs be OK - and then do
the server with the Masters?

Re: NW65 Upg - Master or CA first

well, technically you don't need to do the master of root, just a
server holding a writeable replica of root. this requirement is for
the sync of new schema. historically, it needed to be the master but
that hasn't been the case for a few years now. most people still use
the master since it's "safer". kind of like removing a server from
replicas manually before removing ds on the server.
