Need assistance with basic file server installation

I am attempting to install OES for evaluation purposes and am having a difficult time with it. I have downloaded the Planning and Implementation Guide and the Installation guide but there seems to be certain amount of assumed knowledge required to use these guides that I don't have.

My installation of OES is for a simple standalone file server with a software raid1 installation. There are other servers in the company that handle all the other services. Much of what OES has to offer I don't need to use and this is where the challenge is. I need to know what basic services are that are necessary to install to allow OES to function as only a file server.

If anyone has any suggestions on additional resources available to assist in the installation I'm all ears. I've use Novell products for years but this install is challenging.

Thanks,
Tom

Re: Need assistance with basic file server installation

Check out my install guides. I don't cover software RAID, but to be honest, I'd just use hardware raid and not mess with the software RAID (complicates things, IMO).

My installation guide will get you going with the basic file stuff.

I hope it helps.
