Netdrive Delivery

Hope this is the correct forum, has any one used netdrive and delivered
it to users when they attepmt to login. IE: When they hit the server and
click it downloads the netdrive client (configured) and they can browse.
We want to use NetStorage access but find it is to clunky for most users,
the netdrive client adds the nice touch but has to be installed, if
manually installed makes it difficult for users to access files from any
location without installing the client at each machine they visit. Any
suggestions welcomed, I know Netdrive is an OEM Webdrive but can't get a
handle on delivery!!

Re: Netdrive Delivery

Hi Willro

So have you looked at the Webdrive manual page 68 and down ?
http://www.southrivertech.com/docs/WebDrive%20Users%20Guide.pdf

I have been looking into this, but have'nt been able to implement it.
This was the plan:
- extract the netdrive.exe package with winrar/winzip
- export registry key
HKCU\Software\RiverFront\WebDrive\Connections\YourSite
from a configured workstation
- edit the setup.ini as described in the manual, pointing to the reg file
- repackage the extracted files including edited setup.ini and reg file

The last part is the problem. I have no software to make a self-extracting
setup package.
It can be opened with winrar to view and extract individual files, but
winrar cannot update changed files into the package.
Maybe it helps.

Peter

Have a look at TurboSFX - http://www.filestream.com/turbosfx/

It will do what you want. I used it to create a self-install package of
the GroupWise 6.5 client which I then made available to all our users via
a web page.

It's well worth the $99.
