Netstorage Issues & Logons

Hello, How do i get netstorage to work for all edirectory users? it only works with the admin account. Another problem is that when someone logs into the novell client on windows xp, it prompts for a windows account too, how do i get users to have separate profiles with their novell logins?

You might want to provide a little more information...such as what
happens when a user tries to access NetStorage. I don't recall doing
anything special to give users access. One thought...did you specify
the correct User Context so NetStorage knows where to look in the
eDirectory tree for users?

What do you mean by "separate profiles"? A user has to login to both
eDirectory and Windows XP. What are you asking about that process?

Re: Netstorage Issues & Logons

It comes up with bad password on netstorage, and when I was at a school and they had novell, it did not require windows workstation login with the client?

It is possible to enable SSO (Single Sign On) to netstorage if the workstation has the NetIdentity/xTier client on the device. Normally this would only occur if the workstation had the old ZEN for Desktops 7.x or lower code on the machine. Windows Vista/7/8 can't run the old version of ZFD.

However, I thought it was possible to get just the netidentity stuff on a Win7 machine.

Another option is if you are front-ending NetStorage with NetIQ Access Manager, then you can also achieve SSO.

So perhaps the other school had things setup that way?

There were/are some other issues with contextless login to NetStorage (ie: just entering a userid/password instead of having to enter: .userid.ou.o or something). I vaguely remember that was a bug/feature and documented in the OES manuals and basically the "workaround" was to LUM-enable all the users (or possibly use NetIQ Access Manager). I'm not sure if the NetIdentity client worked around that issue as well.

Maybe I am missing something here, but...
The way we use NetStorage is we open a web browser, go to the address
I have setup, and login. If you are doing that and getting a "bad
password" error, I assume you are using the wrong password. But a
Windows workstation login has nothing to do with it.

So for me to help, I need more info....or maybe someone else who
understands what is going on can help out.

I believe you are reporting two separate issues here which I think
you'll be better off splitting and reposting in the more suitable forums.

For your NetStorage issue depending on whether you're talking about
NetStorage on NetWare or OES Linux (I suspect the latter since this is
an OES Linux forum but I've learnt not to assume) the forums will be
either
https://forums.novell.com/novell-product-discussions/file-networking-services/netware/nw-other/webserver/
(if NetWare) or
https://forums.novell.com/novell-product-discussions/file-networking-services/open-enterprise-server/oes-linux/oes-l-linux-web-services/
(if OES Linux).

For your Novell Client issue use
https://forums.novell.com/novell-product-discussions/file-networking-services/open-enterprise-server/oes-platform-independent/oes-client-windows/

When reposting please provide the version details which are currently
lacking.
