Netware 6.5 Contextless with FTP

Hi everyone....

I have a problem to configure contextless for working with FTP.

I followed the TID 10069052 with no success.
I added context like that for searching subcontainers .sit.services.csf:s
or flat context .sit.services.csf
With this two configurations, i'm not be able to login.
I can login if i add complete context to my username but if i tried to login with only username, that doesn't work.

Someone have an idea?

There seems to be some confusion here.
You are talking about FTP on Nw 6.5, whereas that TID talks about
Netstorage on NW 6.0. Can you confirm that you are really talking about
FTP and NetWare 6.5 and can you also specify the SP level?

For FTP on Nw 6.5, the followign documents are relevant:

1) Documentation:
http://www.novell.com/documentation/nw65/file_ftp_nw/?page=/documentation/nw65/file_ftp_nw/data/configftp.html#configftp

2) The following TID which talks about subtree searching:
http://www.novell.com/documentation/nw65/file_ftp_nw/?page=/documentation/nw65/file_ftp_nw/data/configftp.html#configftp

Note the version requirement for this, e.g. Nw 6.5 SP5 or later.

That is what I wanted to post.

Anyway, what does your ftp log file report?

Probably the error i have is on the first line: Error 119

I tried to configure the FTPSERV.CFG file like the TID recommand but like you see, i have this error.

Any ideas?

Did you correctly do and debug the part about NDSILIB.NLM?

Re: Netware 6.5 Contextless with FTP

When i look in the Logger screen, i saw this when NDSILIB.NLM is loaded.

default domain not set, you need to set it through ypset

I search for this but i didn't found anything valid fo me.

Ideas?

Re: Netware 6.5 Contextless with FTP

Have you verified that the nfauuser exists? If in doubt about the user,
run the schinst.nlm tool from the server console with the -n option.

Hi Marcel....

Yes the nfauuser exists.

Re: Netware 6.5 Contextless with FTP

As Marcel is already pursuing, it sounds like your subtree search function is not working due to nfauuser / ndsilib login issues. That can be pursued further, but it can sometimes be complex to track down. Your other option is to reconfigure the sys:etc\ftpserv.cfg SEARCH_LIST parameter to specify all the individual contexts you wish to search, instead of listing a parent context and telling it to do subtree search. (Though this might be a pain if you have too many context layers. And that line can only be so long....)

Re: Netware 6.5 Contextless with FTP

Hi....

The only problem to add individual contexts, is the limitation to 30 containers. I have a lot more containers than that.

I will search for the nfauuser / ndsilib login issues like you said. Maybe i will found something.

Re: Netware 6.5 Contextless with FTP

Steve,

I would recommend this TID: http://www.novell.com/support/php/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=7001615

It actually focuses on NFS, because that's where NDSILIB and NFAUUser come from. But FTP was adapted to use those pieces from NFS for it's subtree search, so the same process applies. Just read the TID very carefully before you begin. The most important thing to know (and this is covered in the TID) is that multiple servers can share the same NFAUUser, and after deleting and re-creating it (with the special steps in that TID) you have to take extra steps on all those other servers to sync them up, too.

And remember that after any of these steps that you do, and then want to test to see if they helped, you should UNLOAD NDSILIB and load it again. (And you could check for errors on the logger screen at this point). Then unload NWFTPD and load it again. Then test.
