Novell Client 4.90 SP2 Blank Screen

After upgrading client to 4.90 SP2 we started encountering Blank Screens
on workstations after workstation remains Idle for an extended amount of
time.

That's still very old, the current client is 4.91 SP4. But it's hard to
see how your problem is client related, sounds more like it's going into
hibernation.

I'm positive it's not. It will happen when you just logoff from windows.
Also sometimes after system sets for a period of time and than you attempt
to login to the network the login screen appears with just the two fields
displaying for username and password, the whole rest of the screen is
blank.

I'm positive it's not. It will happen when you just logoff from windows.
Also sometimes after system sets for a period of time and than you attempt
to login to the network the login screen appears with just the two fields
displaying for username and password, the whole rest of the screen is
blank.

We have no control over what version client is being distributed. Being a
Government office we have to use the client that our main IT department is
recommending us to use, since it is working for them ok we cannot upgrade
to the most current version.

If, as you seem to suspect, the problem is caused by the client, the
only possible fix is to patch it or update to a newer version. If you
can't do that, it's hard to see what kind of fix you were hoping for
from us? Can you clarify what you were after, just a confirmation that
it is a known client bug? Not so far as I know, no.
