Novell Client Issues and 6.5

We recently changed to new servers and installed NW 6.5 with SP4 and now
some of the client stations running a 4.91 client can't log in. Users were
all created from scratch using the same user names in the same contexts and
in the same tree as when they were running on 5.1 servers. When we switch
back to client 4.83 the stations log in and function just fine. This does
not happen on all workstations and is not tied to a specific workstation OS
version. It happens on Win 2k and XP stations alike. The funny thing is
that some of them also work using the exact same client on the same
workstation OS as the stations that don't work. Some are exactly the same
brand/model machines Any suggestions or ideas ?

What errors do you get ?
It might be an SLP issue. When you get a workstation that doesn't want
to authenticate check if what happens if you fill in the ip address of
a server instead of the treename under the advanced button. If that
works you can be pretty sure that you have an SLP issue.

Re: Novell Client Issues and 6.5

I had this problem once. Mine turned out to be NMAS. Try reinstalling the
client but untick the two NMAS options during the install. Then when you log
in, click on the advanced tab and then in trees and context select the
correct entry. I think I remember having an issue where if you simply type
in the tree and context it doesn't work. Once I browsed for it and selected
it, it worked from then onwards
