Novell DST and merged view using CIFS
Hi there!
We are testing novell dst for use on our main nss volume. All is fine using ncp, but
the problem is that we have a few servers using nfs (now) and we have to move to
cifs, because ncp implementation had a bad performance.
So, we have set up the cifs share according to the dst documentation, and the
problem is that the client cant see the merged view. Only see the files that
are located on the primary storage area. According the dst doc, novell cifs can
see the merged view without any special stuff.
I dont know whats happening... We are using oes2 sp3 on sles 10.
Any help is welcome!
thank you so much

hmmm, let me check here, although I don't think we're seeing that issue.
On your DST, are you by any chance using the shadowfs? We don't.
You SHOULD see the merged view. We only have this enabled on a few volumes (CIFS) with DST, so I need to double-check.

Just checked our servers/setup and I can successfully see the shadowed stuff via the merged view via CIFS.
Perhaps a little more detail?
Are you up to the latest OES2 SP3 patches?
32 or 64-bit?
Which client (I tested from a Windows 2003 server) are you using? (XP, Win7, Vista, 2008, etc.)
The underlying "stuff" that does DST is actually the ncpengine. Most of the CIFS stuff will be logged in /var/log/messages
But the ncp stuff is in the ncp logs (ncp2nss.log, ncpserv.log, etc.)
