Novell Netware new installation

MCSE sick to hell of MS......so..downloaded Netware 6.5 .First problem is
that it does not allow me to install SYS on same harddrive (HD0) so I
installed SYS on second hardrive (HD1) It then installed fine...went
through the server config process fine. I checked the install log before
reseting the server and zero errors. On reboot/reset of server the Novell
Netware logo screen comes up and that's it.........it goes no further. Can
anybody help??

Same harddrive ? Can you elaborate please ?

When you see the logo screen press ALT-ESC. You get a text based
screen. What do you see here ?

I have no idea what you mean by this. The same hard drive as what?

Secondly, I sugegst you use the ISO images of 6.5 with SP5 pre-instaled,
you can get these from

Thanx for your input!!! When I ALT-ESC at the logo screen afer the
installation it gives the following 3 errors:

1= NWPA -CDM driver deactivated the device - failure
(first hard drive)
2= SEVER -same error message for the second hard drive

3= LSL.NLM not loaded or executed cannot function
without component.

During the install process the following two errors occur when I try and
partition the first harddrive for the SYS volume. This error does not occur
when I partition the second harddrive on my box and create the pool and
therefore SYS volume.

1= -1 Error creating pool
2= 20812 error finding pool in NSS.

When I create the NSS partition on the second harddrive it works fine.

Geartly appreciate any help.

Regards

Gerardo.

During the install process, you're asked to create a boot partition.
How big did you make it? Did you make it the same size as your first
hard drive? In other words, did you make the boot parition so it eats
all the space on the first drive? I'm not sure the install will
actually let you do this, but it's worth asking.

But for your own mind, this is how the boot process works. Server.exe
loads the server, and a few drivers to get the box running. The rest
of the drivers are loaded from the sys volume once that is mounted.
The boot parition is sort of like a starter on a car.

I'd try a reinstall. Make sure your boot partition is less that a gig,
but over 200 megs for backup purposes and possible core dumps. You'll
actually reboot the server, and then dedicate the rest of that first
disk for the sys, and then your second disk as a data volume.
