Re: OES2 sp1 LOCAL_CODE_PAGE

I found interesting fact...
Situation:
Server OES2 sp1, in filder test contains 4 items:
----------------
English_file_name.txt
English_folder_name
Русское_имя_каталога(Cyrillic_folder_name)
Русское_имя_файла(Cyrillic_file_name).txt
----------------
From linux client via ncpfs output of command "ls test" :
----------------
English_folder_name
Русское_имя_каталога(Cyrillic_folder_name)
----------------
all files not shown from that command.
BUT, if i send command "cat test/English_file_name.txt", these command output success result:
"text in the file"

Re: OES2 sp1 LOCAL_CODE_PAGE

I alanyzed your traces and found the problem. The bug is in the implementation of NCP verb 0x2222 87 20 (search for File or Subdirectory Novell Doc: NDK: NetWare Core Protocols - Search for File or Subdirectory Set 0x2222 87 20 )
In OES2 SP1, the NCP server adds a trailing null character to each file name returned. ncpfs is unable to handle this trailing null character and ignores these invalid names. the Win9x client just strips these null characters from the name and thus handles it fine. For some strange reason, only file names have the trailing null character. Directory names returned by "87 20" do not have the trailing null character and therefore show fine.
I will report the problem to Novell.

Re: OES2 sp1 LOCAL_CODE_PAGE

I have reported the issue to Novell and they are looking into it. They also ask for a supportconfig from your OES2SP1 server:
supportconfig for Linux | Novell User Communities

Re: OES2 sp1 LOCAL_CODE_PAGE

Hello,

I have the same problem with our systems. I can´t mount files which contains the characters ä, ö and ü.

Is there already a solution from Novell for this problem or not?

Best Regards
Philipp

The problem has been solved with an update for the ncp server for OES2SP1.
I don't kno however if that update is already available to the public. Let

Re: OES2 sp1 LOCAL_CODE_PAGE

The patch is not yet public but might be published in the next few weeks.
If you want it now, I can get it emailed to you.

Re: OES2 sp1 LOCAL_CODE_PAGE

There is no need for a patch for ncpfs because the bug is in the OES2SP1 NCP server and Novell has fixed the bug and created an FTF for it. Did you receive that patch? If not, please tell me at what email address you want to receive the patch and whether you need the 32 or the 64 bit version.

Re: OES2 sp1 LOCAL_CODE_PAGE

Me interests Novell client 2.0 SP2 for SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop 11.
The problem in that that the current version of the client and others (Novell Client for SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop 10 SP3) is connected normally but does not display folders and files in Russian.

On a server:
LOCAL_CODE_PAGE CP866

On a workstation:
Novfs: 2.0.0-440
