One iFolder client won't properly sync

We have an OES 2 SP2 with iFolder 3.8 installed.

We have about a dozen users, so far no one else has this issue. I was at a client and got a new laptop to use onsite, installed iFolder 3.8 client from the server (Same as on my other laptop, files are all dated Oct1, 2009)

But after correctly connecting, downloading the iFolder for the client, now, on a reboot or a restart of the iFolder client I see just the currently downloaded one, not the available iFolders (Yes, the View Available is ticked) and get told incomplete sync, and server unavailable.

Disconnect/connect does not error. I tried using a VPN tunnel via another client to see if it was their network, but seems not to be related.

And it worked for a while, then stopped, so I doubt it is the local firewall. (Windows FW is off, Symantec is installed, but I do not have rights to see its settings).

However, I can get to the http://server/iFolder and /admin interfaces via a web browser, and via HTTPS. So I am doubtful of firewall issues.

I set logging on the client to DEBUG and see this in the simias.log

Any ideas? I tried the .NET 3.5 and 3.5SP1 plus post patches, and it worked once, and then stopped again.

Very odd.

It seems that sometimes the installs partial fails on some machines. Have you tried uninstalling it and reinstalling?

Just make sure you kill the simias folder in your appdata after you reboot your computer after the uninstall.

I've had this problem before with other machines and never could really pinpoint the cause.

Re: One iFolder client won't properly sync

Just check the docs of ifolder whether its supporting .NET 3.5 SP1 framework.
I doubt.

Re: One iFolder client won't properly sync

ifolder supports .NET 2 and above versions.

Re: One iFolder client won't properly sync

Now my main machine, that WAS working is showing the same error:

2010-03-11 17:37:45,390 [Client Sync] INFO Simias.Sync.SyncClient -

2010-03-11 17:37:45,390 [Client Sync] INFO

closed: An unexpected error occurred on a send.

I have restarted Apache2 on the server. No joy.

I can access the web interface and get the files I need. And my bosses
iFolder 3.8 client on OpenSLES11.2 seems to be working and is syncing
files up.

I am willing to open an incident since we really need this fixed.

Re: One iFolder client won't properly sync

Before raising an incident, try to get iFolder debug logs and submit so that your request will be seen at the earliest.

Re: One iFolder client won't properly sync

Hi Geoffc,

Ever managed to figure this out?
I'm running into this aswell on a 64Bit windows 7 client and upgrading .net to 4.0 didn't help.

Kind regards,

Dennis

Very odd.

Re: One iFolder client won't properly sync

By the way, in the server logs nothing appears, but if i sniff on the wire (wireshark) i see the following behavior:

- 3way handshake (syn, syn-ack, ack)
- Datapacket from client to server, containing what appears to be malformed data:

M_/<CyqBa|u*
*Rt*\<iBO/5

284ifolder.home.ipaddr.nl

- Server responds with an ACK
- Server sends error:

a:link { color: #0000CC; }
p, address {margin-left: 3em;}
span {font-size: smaller;}
/**/-->

Cannot process request!

The server does not support the action requested by the browser.

If you think this is a server error, please contact
the webmaster.

Error 501

- Server sends FIN to close session...

Also a difference i notice between a working iFolder on the same client is, that its using https... whilst all folders are setup to do secure sync.
