Patches: OES Linux sp2 and SLES9 sp3... the difference?

Anyone know what the difference is between the OES Linux sp2 patch and
SLES9 sp3?

I have a test box which has OES sp2 with a fully configured edirectory but
in order to apply a TSM agent, it has been recommended that a xattr patch
plus kernel patch 11118 is applied (v 2.6.5-7-276). Our current version of
kernel is 2.6.5-7-244-bigsmp.

OES Sp2 patches the novell products and SLES 9 Sp3 is for the OS.

Ta Edward. What is the recommended update path - do you apply OES sp2
before or after installing aconfiguring OES Linux and SLES sp3?

Thanks.

To be honest, I have no clue. Maybe somebody else has some good
experiences with this.

Re: Patches: OES Linux sp2 and SLES9 sp3... the difference?

If you are upgrading OES you use OES SP2. The 10 OES SP2 CDs already
contain the latest OES supported SLES Service Pack. The first 4 CDs
include all that is required to patch an existing installation of OES.
OES has its own channel for SLES updates in its first version. That is
likely to change in OES 2 where it sounds like OES will install like an
add-on product to SLES 10.

The best method is to do a fresh install from the SP2 CD's and then patch
with rug:

You should NEVER install a SLES SP on an OES box - it WILL break it
(possibly beyond repair). OES SP2 is built on SLES SP3 anyway...

Do you already have OES installed?
