RE: Can create iFOLDER with ADMIN but cannot with any other user

RE: Can create iFOLDER with ADMIN but cannot with any other user

RIghts issue?? Do I need to grant more rights to the normal users??

Why can I create an iFOLDER icon on my desktop using the ADMIN account in
Novell 6,,, but cannot using the normal users accounts??

When I try typing in the username and password,,, it says invalid username
or password.... even though I know very well their passwords....

Your Help is greatly appreciated....

Have you enabled them for iFolder in the iFolder Admin interface?

RE: Can create iFOLDER with ADMIN but cannot with any other user

I have the same problem, except admin isn't working either. I'm wondering
if I have ldap configured incorrectly.

Then you might not have the same problem 🙂

See:
IFolder simple troubleshooting steps:

1. iFolder 2.x needs eDirectory 8.6.2 or better for LDAP. It will not
work with NW 5.1 DS 8.82 for example.
2. Check that the admin name in the iFolder server config file is
correct
3. Use the clear-text LDAP (389) port for troubleshooting
(SSL/TLS tab, turn off "require TLS", see below)
4. Have iFolder log its screen to a file (below)
5. Turn on LDAP tracing on the LDAP Server Object
(Screen options tab, check at least "connection" and "response")
6. LOAD DSTRACE. Turn off everything and turn on LDAP, then try to log
in.
7. Does it work if you bypass the proxy in your browser?

Does the new iFolder help?
http://support.novell.com/servlet/filedownload/uns/pub/ifolder213.exe/
(This is for 6.0. For 6.5, use SP2)

Note on 4:
Change startifolder.ncf to read:
LOAD ADDRESS SPACE = IFOLDER APACHE -s -f
SYS:APACHE\IFOLDER\SERVER\HTTPD.CONF
(all on one line)

Note on 3:
1. LDAP Server Object, SSL/TLS Config Page
Untick "Require TLS for All Operations"
2. LDAP Group Object
Untick "Require TLS for simple binds with password"

Note on 6:
LOAD DSTRACE
DSTRACE -ALL
DSTRACE +LDAP
DSTRACE SCREEN ON
DSTRACE FILE On

The trace file is called DSTRACE.LOG and is in sys:system

Have you tried "User management"? The link is
https://10.0.20.10/iFolderServer/Admin/LDAPDirectory.htm

Then search to find existing users

Re: Update on the iFolder problem....

Hi, I wanted to UPDATE you on the below case...
I was able to use https://fileservername:52443/iFolderServer/Admin
and go under LDAP and I checked the box that said
"SEARCH SUB CONTAINERS" and it worked!!!!

The reason was,, the USERS were in a SUBCONTAINER...not off the ROOT.
But now,,, when I try to get back into Admin for the iFOLDER
it says Login Failed....LDAP down???

Regards,
Kaydoon

The symptom you are describing is a known issue with iFolder 1.x:
http://support.novell.com/techcenter/search/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=10065886html&sliceId=&dialogID=3963120

A far better solution is to upgrade (free) to 2.x:

Hi, Anders....thanks for all your help...
The problem was in that file..HTTP_ADDITIONS_NW.CONF
the line LdapLoginDnContext "*O=MAIN1" appeared
when I use iFolder to manage it and remember I clicked on the check mark
on Search SubContainers....which allowed me to have my regular users
jsmith create an iFolder Icon on his WINXP machine...but I was no longer
able to manage it....

and when I removed
the "*",,, LdapLoginDnContext "O=MAIN1" I was able to login...
and manage iFOLDER.

The question now is....
How can I add Sub Containers on this line??
For example O=MAIN1 and O=MAIN1.USERS
The reason I did this...was to allow my regular USERS to have iFolder.

Kaydoon

Normally in 1.x the * should do it, but I understand from your posting
that you have not put iFolder into production yet. If that is the case I
recommend deleting it and installing the 2.x I provided a link to.

There is no point installing 1.x when you can have 2.x

The latter.

"O=MAIN1" means "look there"
"*O=MAIN1" means "look there and below"
