We are using a dos application which can only print to lpt1,2 or 3 can
these ports be captured to the ndps printers?

Re: File and Printer sharing Windows

Can we use normal print sharing in Windows for this purpose? What is the
advantage of using ndps printers on Novell vs printer sharing in windows.

Re: File and Printer sharing Windows

I'd guess so, but you did ask for something for NDPS printers <g>. We
don't allow file and print sharing to be turned on here.

Printing will be easier to support and more stable, because it will be
centralised. The problems you described in the initial post will most
likely disappear.

Re: File and Printer sharing Windows

g.vanrensburg,

In additiona to Dave's suggestion, you can also have NDPS printers
service traditional queues - so no change is required in the
configuration for your DOS app. It continues to print to LPT1/2/3 - the
job goes to a traditional queue and is then printed via NDPS.

Re: File and Printer sharing Windows

The iPrint client supports capturing an LPT port (iCapture).
