Re: srvloc.sys - blue screen after verifier XPsp2

Having the same problem with 4.91 + SP2 and the three Post-SP2 patches
that came out in January 2006.

Re: srvloc.sys - blue screen after verifier XPsp2

Jeremy,

Lets gather some more details about your environment...

Any additional components of the client installed?

Was Windows installed from scratch, a custom image, or an OEM image?

Windows Event logs showing anything unusual?

Security or any other driver-based software like firewall, VPN, remote
management, antivirus, etc. installed and running?

Can you verify a virus, spyware or some other corruption has not
affected Windows?
I've used these utilities in the past to help troubleshoot and they can
tell you wonders about what is really going on with Windows...

Re: srvloc.sys - blue screen after verifier XPsp2

We can reproduce this issue on every machine we maintain. Right now
that is about 13 machines.

All of the computers are XP+SP2 plus all patches up through Feb 2006.
Running Client32 4.91+SP2, ZEN 6.52 agent, NMAS clinet installed and
turned on. Includes Office 2003, SAV CE 10, etc. Standard stuff.

As soon as we turned on the dirver verifier, every one of the computers
blue screens at login with the servloc.sys error. It is a sight to see
12 or so computers all blue screening in my office 🙂

We restored an image to one of those computers which only had XP and
patches, and drivers installed - nothing else. Ran driver verifier - no
problems.

Installed Client32 and ZEN Agent. Ran driver verifier - servloc.sys
BSoD. I instaled all three post 4.91SP2 patches (2 of which include
updated servloc.sys files), but it didn't make a difference.

It is just as the original poster of this thread said (original post Aug
'04), except he was running 4.83.

Driver Verifier as in Microsoft's built-in to Windows?...

Do you have any unique settings configured?

Re: srvloc.sys - blue screen after verifier XPsp2

Nope. Clean install of XP+SP2 and patches, drivers. Driver Verifier
passes until you install Client32. Then it BSoDs every time it boots
until you shut off driver verifier.

I opened an incident with Novell about it this morning.

They were able to reproduce the problem on their end very quickly.
